harvest moon ladies got the fashions (i like)

And now for something completely different? Well... not quite?
There are still rabbits involved.
And clothing!

I'm really excited about the release of 牧場物語 つながる新天地 (Harvest Moon: Connect to a New Land) for 3DS!

It JUST came out on February 27th in Japan, so looks like I'm just going to have to wait. Harvest Moon: A New Beginning came out in Japan in February 2012 and was released in mid-October of the same year in the U.S., so... that is a wee bit heartening, at least (ó㉨ò)ノ♡

I'm a latecomer to the series, but I love the attention paid to the clothing design of the villagers in recent iterations of HM. Of course, the rustic countryside is the backdrop and farming is always the main theme, but I like how the protagonists and villagers alike are often wearing something more sartorially challenging than the tried-and-true Old MacDonald flannel and denim overalls combination, hahaha -- not that there's anything wrong with that, but I love that there are mori, steampunk, ethnically inspired, and lolita elements present!

I want to be a fashionable farmer too... ((begin escapist fantasy))

Harvest Moon: Connect to a New Land (2014), 3DS
Connect to a New Land is the second game in the series where you can customize your main character's look -- eye color, hair color, skin color, etc -- and outfits, but I really love the default design for the female protagonist, "a kindhearted girl who loves animals... and always wears a smile no matter how tough things get."

Harvest Moon: A New Beginning (2012)

ANB is the first game that allowed you to customize your main character's physical characteristics, and you can also make a variety of outfits by collecting materials and taking them to the town tailor, some cuter than others, which is nice, since I don't favor the look of the female protagonist so much, nor her cow-print hat. Her design is definitely reminiscent of the HM DS "For Girl" MC.

Harvest Moon: A Tale of Two Towns (2010)

In ToTT you can choose which village you're going to live in -- the idyllic European themed, animal focused ranching town of Bluebell,  or the pan-Asian agriculture focused Konohana. Your outfit changes depending on which you choose, and you can go back and forth between towns if you wish. Depending on the materials you collect, you can even gather a collection of alternative ensembles over the course of the game.

Harvest Moon: Grand Bazaar (2008)
A very cute game with a European folky wooden shoes n' windmills "Sound of Music" aesthetic. It's interesting how even the bachelors and bachelorettes -- supposedly all of marriageable age -- look like elementary school kids. Then again, so to the male and female protagonists, both. This was actually my first HM game, where I was awakened to the harsh reality of having my first child within a month of marriage and then heading back to the fields the same day to work D:

spring 2013 taobao mini haul KITAAAAAAAAAAAAA━━━(゜∀゜)━━━!!! beep beep beep beep beep

So chocolatey!!
This haul may be small, but I'll have you know it's truly, truly outrageous (A SPRINGY FANTASY)

Ahem. It's breakdown time~

Convertible floppy hat by 夫车马
I've been in need of one of these for a long time, mostly for practical keep-the-sun-off-face-and-neck purposes. And the brim on this lovely hat can be folded down for those needs! Unfortunately it's not really photogenic when it's flopped out like that...

Yellow cross-strap flowery dress by lucky house
SO SWEET! Another great find from lucky house!! This dress has the cutest details. I am loving the countryesque, springy aesthetic, the ruffles and lace, the flower pattern (super flowery at the bottom, and then a sparse scattering of flowers and petals at the top, as if they're being blown into the wind.)
MILK DAIRY DIARY "book-style" purse by 娟子时尚女人坊
Such a cute idea! I absolutely love the shape of the bag, the design, everything. I do wish the storage compartments were bigger, but I have my bottomless satchel bag for that purpose, I guess. Interestingly, my wallet is also shaped like a book...!!!!!!
If you would believe it, there's a little book inside my (enormous) book-shaped wallet as well.
A BOOK IN A BOOK IN A BOOK. Madness!

 Bear hat by 盼盼帽业
Roar! I'm really a rabbit, but I can be a bear too, really. It just depends on my mood, but this hat helps.

Comfy pleated culottes by nanalcollection店
These are quite comfy indeed, but contrary to its cute pleated skirt look, this is actually a pair of shorts. Hello, secret shorts samurai cybersquad. Who's with me??
Retro side-zip booties by 季小莫家 Zee Amor
Love the convenience of the side-zip on these, so I can keep 'em permanently laced. The opening is wide enough to allow for slipping them on, too. Laces?! Who needs 'em!
After a 'test flight,' I'm none too happy about how they messed up my socks, though. I wore them for a brief errand out to break them in, and when I took them off the toes of my OTK beige socks were spotted with black, and somehow the teeth of the side zipper had snagged on some of the threads on the side of the sock ankle and pulled them out a bit. Now it's all loopy >( So I guess I'll have to be more careful next time, and wear socks that I don't mind getting funky...

CURRENTLY MY JAM~~~
